Hi everyone, I hope you are all fine by God’s grace. Today’s post is about disappointment. More precisely, disappointment from a friend.
In general, when we befriend someone it’s because we like/love the person. We want to be closer, we want to be emotionally connected with the person, and we unconsciously notice every common point we have with them. These little things reassure us deeper that we were meant to be friends.
However, there may come a time in our life where the actions of our friends disappoint us, because we expected more from them. It could be something they said, or something they did or didn’t do, etc. I guess it’s not easy to know exactly what to do in such cases, but love should lead us.
Proverbs 17:9 KJV

He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.

When a friend has disappointed us, we are not obliged to publish the matter by telling everyone, we aren’t obliged either to hate the person or hold a life long grudge against them.
Someone kind of disappointed me recently, and I got advice from a very nice friend of mine (that’s the use of having friends who fear The Lord). Discussing with him about what I felt helped me realize that part of my disappointment was actually because I was worried about my friend. He found the exact words to make me feel better, and I’ll share his advice with you today.
What should you do when your friend disappoints you?
1. Don’t ever stop loving them
Despite their flaws continue loving them.
1 Corinthians 13:7 KJV

(Love) Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

2. Continue praying for them

1 Thessalonians 5:17 KJV

Pray without ceasing.

If they’ve really committed a huge mistake, they need your prayers now more than ever before. You may not be the only one who has been disappointed by them, others may have turned their back against them, but you can’t do the same, you are their friend, you ought to pray for them.
3. Continue helping them in any way God suggests to you.
Perhaps behind all this disappointment, there’s a feeling of deep concern you have for them because despite their faults, you think of the consequences and you are worried about how they’ll manage it all. This feeling is just a reflection of God’s love, He’s put that nature in you.  Remember that even when we act wrongly God still cares about our welfare, He is still worried about us.

When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, though He punished them and sent them away from the garden, He still cared enough about them to give them clothes.
Genesis 3:21 KJV

Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

Who makes clothes for people who disappoints them?-God.
Who still loves us and cares for us even when we disappoint Him and disobey Him? – God
In the same way, when your friends disappoint you, keep on loving them and providing for them in The Lord as you can.
I hope these tips will help you in dealing with disappointment. God bless you all.
Prayer

Eternal Lord King of glory
, help me continue loving all my friends even those who disappoint me, help me love them, forgive them, and support them as You do for me. Help me continue to pray for them in spite of all. I pray in Jesus Christ’s Name. Amen
