Hello everyone, I hope you’re all fine by God’s grace. If you’ve read the book of Psalms, you’ve noticed that King David has been in trouble a pretty good number of times. Nevertheless, that didn’t stop him from serving God fervently and rejoicing in Him. Today, we’re going to learn a little bit more about his attitude towards problems, by looking at Psalm 3.

  1.  He doesn’t deny facts (He faces them)

Psalm 3: 1-2,6b ESV

O Lord, how many are my foes! Many are rising against me; many are saying of my soul,“There is no salvation for him in God.…..many thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around

David faces these facts

  • He has enemies
  • His enemies are numerous
  • They wish him evil
  • They are against him all around (i.e. they surround him from everywhere)

2. He knows that God loves him
Psalm 3: 3, 7b ESV

But you, O Lord, are a shield about me,my glory, and the lifter of my head……For you strike all my enemies on the cheek; you break the teeth of the wicked.

Though David faced the facts listed above, he knew that it did’t change a little the fact  that:

  • God loved him
  • God was for him
  • God had chosen Him
  • God was going to grant him victory
  • God was going to be his shield

3. He asks with confidence to The Lord
Psalm 3:4  ESV

I cried aloud to the Lord, and he answered me from His holy hill.

If he’s able to ask Help from The Lord, and have faith that God will answer, it’s not because he’s perfect or has it all together, it’s rather because he knows who God is and he knows his identity in The Lord.
4. He is not afraid
Psalm 3:6 ESV

I will not be afraid of many thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around.

Though facing troubles, and though in a period of transition (having prayed and waiting on God to do something), David isn’t afraid. The enemies, their evil wishes towards him, their presence, aren’t enough to make him fear nor doubt.
This is because David knew already what it took time for Job to learn;  God’s love and presence don’t imply that you won’t ever face any troubles, but that He’ll be with you in the middle of every single thing you go through.
Then, instead of focusing on the problems, you’ll be able to fix your focus on The Ultimate Solution; God, and to enjoy the journey.
Reflect : What are the things that God said about me in His Word which if I accepted as being true , I would be free from fear forever no matter what comes against me? (eg. I am unconditionally loved by God, He is for me and not against me…etc.)
In order to take it further, I suggest watching this video . It’s a sermon from Pastor Steven Furtick (Elevation Church NC) about God’s presence in the middle of everything we face.
Prayer
Father Lord God Almighty, please help me have the “David mindset” as from now, knowing that You are Sovereign, You love me, You are on my side, You are bigger than any trouble , trial, enemy, mistake, and all things will work together for my good, in Jesus Christ’s Name I pray. Amen
