Hello blessed child of God, I hope you’re fine by God’s grace. As for me, I’m pretty okay thanks to Him.
From time to time I try to update you on my different activities, and I would like to share with you how I spent my Saturday.
Yesterday I had the wonderful privilege to host an Elevation Outreach Love Week event in my country Cameroon.
Every year Elevation Church organises a whole week of serving and reaching out to people in need through fighting against hunger, homelessness, poverty etc. There are several activities going on through out Love Week around Elevation Church campuses and worldwide (in every area where eFam is found). Actually eFam is extended Family of Elevation Church, all the Christians who don’t live where there’s a physical location also get to take part in love week. There are several events like cards drawing, hygiene packs distribution, building houses, cleaning gardens etc.
Our Love Week event in Cameroon was yesterday and it was all about drawing cards with kids at Foundation Fact orphanage, playing guitar with them and singing Christian songs. The cards we drew had messages intended to make the kids know that God loves them so much.
It was really wonderful and it was a privilege to serve God in this way and to be surrounded by my awesome friends and volunteers who did this with love and zeal. I’m so grateful to God for them.
This makes me think of something we usually say at Elevation Church. That when when you serve, you may think you’re helping others but actually you get out of it refreshed and feeling way better even if you were first feeling sad and miserable before you started.
It makes sense because it roots from a simple principle in The Bible which says that when you give abundantly, you receive abundantly.
Luke 6:38 NIV
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
If you think that this verse is only about money, then you’re missing out completely on so much information. This verse is about anything you give.
When you reach out to people in need and bless them with your time, energy, love, resources etc. God always rewards you beyond what you imagine.
Have you ever tried this out ? When you have a really negative mood and you feel down, if you remain in your room crying for the whole day, you feel even more drained on the next day. But when you decide to be with people, and to pour out the little you have and encourage someone else, stand for them, pray with them, lift them up, afterwards you feel better, energetic, refreshed.
It’s exactly the same principle.
You may not feel like it right now, you may have a million things going on in your life, a problem in your marriage, a health issue you can’t talk about yet, a financial problem, but if you take all that to God in faith and you choose to bless others and reach out to them, God Himself will reach out to you.
What I love about Love Week is that I always get out of it refreshed, transformed, encouraged in my faith. It’s so exciting.
This is why I want to encourage each of you to go to http://events.elevationoutreach.com to find out if there’s a Love Week event near you. Love Week this year goes from 23rd June – 30th June.
If there’s no Love Week event near you, it shouldn’t stop you from reaching out to people around you, helping them out, listening to them, cleaning around, spreading God’s love to people in need.
Also, if you’re curious about what others are doing for love week, just search the hashtag #Loveweek2018 on social media, you’ll be surprised at how many people are serving.
Thanks so much for reading this blog post, now please go out and do the good works that God has planned for you to do.
Ephesians 2:10 NIV
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Prayer
Father Lord God Almighty, thank You so much for calling me to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ on earth. Help me honour the different opportunities You place before me to reach out to people all around me even when I don’t feel like it. Help me obey Your Holy Spirit when He sends me. Bless all the Love Week volunteers, bless Elevation Church, Pastor Steven Furtick and Pastor Holly Furtick in Jesus Christ’s Name. Amen
