Revelation 19:7-9 ESV Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”— for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.”

Hello blessed child of God, I hope you’re fine by God’s grace. As for me, I’m ok thanks to Him.
If I ask how was your week and what you’ve heard the most about this week, you’ll probably answer that you heard so much about the Royal Wedding. Then I would reply “me too, and I watched as much of it as I could”.
Please don’t blame me, I’m a “romantic” and my favourite movies are on weddings and Christmas. This wedding wasn’t during Christmas but it was a royal wedding, so of course it was going to look like a movie (and it did).
Not to endorse anything the bridegroom or the bride did in their past, I just want to talk a little bit today about the most important Royal Wedding ever, the wedding between Jesus Christ our King and The Church.
Many times in The Bible, The Church is referred to as “The Bride”.
Revelation 19:6‭-‬8 MSG

Then I heard the sound of massed choirs, the sound of a mighty cataract, the sound of strong thunder: Hallelujah! The Master reigns, our God, the Sovereign-Strong! Let us celebrate, let us rejoice, let us give him the glory! The Marriage of the Lamb has come; his Wife has made herself ready. She was given a bridal gown of bright and shining linen. The linen is the righteousness of the saints.

Ok who is The Church? The Church encompasses all the believers, you, me, and all those who accepted The Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour, and thus all who are saved. Not only those who are alive now but also those who went through the first death (the second death is actually eternity in Hell a.k.a eternal separation from God).
Is this not wonderful to know that Christ considers us as His Own Bride?
That He’s going to come back for us, to take us with Him and to never let us go?

A few things I have learned about The Bride with Time

1. Jesus Christ Loves His Bride

Ephesians 5:25‭-‬28 MSG

Husbands, go all out in your love for your wives, exactly as Christ did for the church—a love marked by giving, not getting. Christ’s love makes the church whole. His words evoke her beauty. Everything he does and says is designed to bring the best out of her, dressing her in dazzling white silk, radiant with holiness. And that is how husbands ought to love their wives. They’re really doing themselves a favor—since they’re already “one” in marriage.

Ephesians 5:25‭-‬27 NKJV

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

What greater love is there than to give one’s life for the one we love? If Jesus Christ didn’t love us, He wouldn’t have given His life for us, to take away our sins. But He gave up His life so that we could spend eternity with Him. Is this not wonderful, spending our forever with The One who loves us more than life itself.

2. Though We Do Not Deserve Him, Jesus Christ Makes Us Worthy

Revelation 19:7‭-‬9 ESV

Let us rejoice and exult and give Him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His Bride has made herself ready; it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”— for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.”

On our own we couldn’t wash away our sins, and even now that we’re in Him we’re still not perfect. We need The Blood of The Lamb everyday to cleanse us as we confess our sins to Him. Christ doesn’t reject us though He knows all our dysfunctions. Instead He makes us ready for our Royal Wedding with The King of kings and The Lord of Lords. He cleanses us from the filthiness of our sins and clothes us with His Own righteousness.
We were deep down in mud without Him, but He came, picked us up, washed us clean, gave us new clothes and carried us into His mansion forever. How wonderful He is.

3. We Belong To Jesus Christ And To No One Else

2 Corinthians 11:2‭-‬3 ESV

For I feel a divine jealousy for you, since I betrothed you to one Husband, to present you as a pure virgin to Christ. But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

Have you ever noticed the “girlfriend effect”, “fiancée effect”, or “wife effect”?
I’m sure you’ve already noticed it or at least heard about it.
A girl who lived her life being care free and virtually no guy noticed her, but the moment she becomes someone else’s girlfriend, fiancée or wife, all the other guys (even those who never noticed her) start running after her.
This is exactly the same way when we turn to Christ. We were first of the world, but once we accepted Christ’s salvation, everything changed. We made a big decision to follow Him, but because we took a clear stance against the works of the devil, he started pursuing us more than we could even imagine.
The moment you decide to become a Christian, the devil sends his demons to tempt you even with the sins you had never imagined anything about. Everything tries to get to you, mutilation, self-hatred, sexual immorality, theft, self-harm, unforgiviness etc. It seems like you’re attacked from everywhere with lots of temptations.
This isn’t to say that there weren’t any temptations before you became a Christian. There were probably many that you didn’t notice because you didn’t care about it. Nevertheless, once you’ve really decided to follow Jesus, everything else tries to take you away from Him.
Thank God, that He is indeed a Jealous God (Exodus 35:14) and He won’t let us go to anyone other than Him. The devil will try and try to seduce us but he will never succeed in snatching us from God’s hands. We can be at peace about this, that Christ will make everything for us to be saved and that the attempts of the devil will never separate us from God’s love for us.
John 10:27‭-‬30 ESV

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”

When He shall come again in glory, He will take His bride with Him. But…will you be ready for this? Are you excited by the idea of meeting the Love of your life Jesus Christ in person?
If you’re worried, anxious, doubtful, don’t be. No matter what you did in your past, God can forgive you now, cleanse you and admit you into His Kingdom. As we said previously, we do not deserve His grace, we aren’t worthy of what He does for us, but He died for us anyway and is ready to cleanse us from all our sins and make us His.
Do you want to be counted amongst those who will enjoy being Jesus Christ’s Bride?
You can pray the following prayer sincerely with all your heart and guarantee your salvation and your belonging to His Kingdom forever.

Prayer

Father Lord God Almighty, I surrender to You today. I am a sinner, in need of a Saviour. I have sinned and fallen short of Your glory. I want to be Yours, I want to be cleansed and forgiven, I want to spend eternity with you. Lord Jesus Christ, come into my life now, cleanse me, forgive me, save me, and help me through Your Holy Spirit to follow You for all my life, in Jesus Christ’s Name. Amen.
Thank you so much for reading. If you’ve said this prayer sincerely, God has heard you and has saved you. Welcome to God’s Kingdom, congratulations foe your upcoming Royal Wedding. Christ will come back and all of us who have believed in Him will spend eternity with Him.
While waiting, we just have to be faithful, like every engaged woman should be to her future husband. Christ is already faithful to us, be sure of this. He will never leave us not forsake us.
