Hi everyone, I hope you are all fine by God’s grace. This post is a special request from a lovely friend of mine (God bless you dear).
When it comes to how to pray, no one can really pretend being an “expert” et telling others how to pray. This is because there’s no “perfect formula” which is guaranteed to work best for you. It’s like writing a manual on how to talk with your best friend. No one can make a specific canvas to tell you how to communicate with your friend, it’s the same thing with your communication with God.
The first things we all need to know is that God loves us.
Jeremiah 31:3 KJV

The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying , Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

Also, God delights in hearing our voice every single time we pray to Him. Imagine if you’re a parent right now, how would you feel hearing your child call your name? Heartwarming,  right? In the same way God just loves hearing your voice. As such, He expects you to be speaking to Him every now and then.
Praying doesn’t only involve asking God to do x, y, z for you. There are different types of prayers, and as we’ll explore them, the most important thing to keep in mind is that prayer isn’t rigid and fixed. What’s important is that you adapt it, find your style, and always show yourself sincere and open. Everything you have in your heart share it with God just like you’re sharing it with your best friend (And Indeed He is the best friend you will ever have).
Types of prayer

  1.  Prayer of confession (confessing our sins to God)
  2. Prayer of worship/adoration (with or without music): Adoration is about who God is
  3. Prayer of Thanksgiving (with or without music): Thanksgiving is about what God has done for you
  4. Prayer of intercession (praying for someone else)
  5. Prayer of association (praying with others)
  6. Prayer of consecration
  7. Prayer of supplication (presenting prayer requests to God)
  8. Praying in tongues under the direction of The Holy Spirit
  9. Prayer of faith for someone’s healing
  10. Prayer of imprecation (calling on God to judge in your favor)

For details and further explanation about the different types of prayer listed above, click here. You will be redirected to the website www.gotquestions.org (which is a very useful website to find answers to a good number of your questions about The Bible and about God).
Now that we’ve talked about the different kinds of prayers, feel free to present yourself to God everyday and speak to Him. Don’t wear masks with him, if you are sad tell him, of you are upset, tell Him. If you are angry tell Him.
Believe that as you speak to Him He hears, and He will answer.
    James 1:6‭-‬8 NIV

But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

Finally, keep in mind that God speaks all the time, it’s just us who don’t always listen. If you tune in by reading His Word (Bible) regularly, by letting His Holy Spirit direct you, then with time you’ll be used to hearing His voice.
Let’s start this prayer challenge, and develop this habit not only during lent but although our lives.
As from today, everyday when you reach home, take some minutes to tell God how was your day. Tell Him everything, what you enjoyed, what angered you, what made you sad, whatever sin you committed, tell Him everything, and start getting used to speaking to Him everyday.

    Prayer
Thank You Father Almighty for teaching me today that prayer is about communicating with You. I choose to pray with faith as from today, knowing that You are listening and that You will reply. Thank You Father, in Jesus Christ’s Name. Amen.
    Thanks for reading.
    Please like, comment and share.
God bless you all in your respective prayer lives.
