Happy New Year 2017 everyone. Hi, I hope you are all fine by God’s grace, I wish you a happy new year and I hoped you enjoyed your Christmas holidays in The Lord Jesus Christ.
Today I’ll be continuing with my series on encouragement by talking about encouragement to and or from others.
If you haven’t read encouragement part two yet, you can follow this link
Did you know that the call to encourage one another happens to be a call from God?
1 Thess 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
As Christians, we ought to encourage one another in The Lord.
We all have our moments where we are down /feel weak/sad/hurt/in pain/broken/discouraged. We all have those moments where we just need someone by our side to gently make a pat on our shoulder and say encouraging words to us inspired form God’s Word. Not only do we all need someone to do that for us at certain times, but also, we are this person who can do that for someone in need.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 KJV
Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. [10] For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.
From a sermon I heard from First Presbyterian Church Charlotte some time ago, I learned that the story of Esther and Mordecai is a story of encouragement. Ruth didn’t believe she was able to do anything at her level to save the people of Israel but his words encouraged her and boosted her sufficiently for her to take action (her first action was fasting and praying by the way)-see Esther 4.
There are many means by which people can encourage us to get to our full potential (or at least to upgrade ourselves) in The Lord, and there are many ways by which we too can help others.
In terms of encouragement, we shouldn’t just be takers but also givers.
Let’s challenge ourselves this year to be more grateful for those who encourage us, to really let their encouraging words work in us so that improvement may be noticed, and to encourage people around us, let’s say at least a person a day.
Prayer
Eternal Lord King of glory, I thank you for all those who encouraged me through 2016 and all those who will encourage me this year God-willing, I pray that you may bless them. Help me notice when people around me need to be encouraged and to encourage them as they need. Help me use every encouraging word I receive this year as a means of improving myself in The Lord . Thank you Father, in Jesus Christ’s Name I have prayed. Amen.
Please comment, like and share to encourage a maximum number of people near you.
God bless you all.
