Why have you despised the commandment of the Lord, to do evil in His sight? You have killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword; you have taken his wife to be your wife, and have killed him with the sword of the people of Ammon. Now therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised Me, and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.’ Thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, I will raise up adversity against you from your own house; and I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun. For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel, before the sun.’ ”
II Samuel 12:9‭-‬12 NKJV

II Samuel 12:9‭-‬12 NKJV

Hello beloved of The Lord, you’re blessed and highly favoured.

David, a man after God’s heart, was chosen by God to replace Saul as king of Israel (1 Samuel 16 NKJV). David started out as a humble man, but he kept getting more wives even though God had said that the king shouldn’t have many wives (Deuteronomy 17:17 NLT). This probably predisposed David to believing that he could have any woman he wanted to have, he didn’t have to stop himself because he was “the king”. That’s how he had sex with the only wife of Uriah his faithful soldier while he was out there fighting for him and he orchestrated his death so as to cover up for the pregnancy which resulted from the adultery (2 Samuel 11-12).

Fortunately for David, after God called him out on his sin through Nathan the prophet, he repented (2 Samuel 12:13 NKJV) yet David’s sin had a lot of negative consequences (the death of his first child with Bathsheba, one of his sons-Amnon who raped one of his daughters-Tamar, David who had no authority to punish sexual immorality because he had been a slave to his urges, Absalom who avenged his sister and killed Amnon, Absalom who slept with his father’s concubines and tried to take the throne from David, Absalom who died because he tried to take the throne by force from his father)

If you want to finish strong, you have to control your sexual urges. You have to crucify the flesh, if not you’ll make stupid mistakes that will cost you a lot.

Prayer:

Father Lord God Almighty, today I make a stance against sexual immorality. I choose to live in sexual purity and to crucify the flesh daily, in Jesus Christ’s Name. Amen

Assignment :

If you have any sexual sin in your life (pornography, fornication, adultery, masturbation, homosexuality etc.) meet a Pastor/disciple maker/Christian premarital or marital counsellor today so as to receive prayer, guidance and counselling to be set free from it once and for all.
