Hello beloved of The Lord, you’re blessed and highly favoured.
What does it mean to be as simple as a dove? The word simple here in Greek is akeraios, which means pure or unmixed. The apostle Paul uses the same word in Romans 16:19, where he speaks of being pure (akeraios) with regards to evil, i.e., that no evil be found in us.
that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world
Philippians 2:15 NKJV
The word harmless here is also the word akeraios, and also refers to being without blemish, blameless in the face of a corrupt generation. This means that the simplicity of which Jesus speaks in our basic text, in relation to evil, is the purity and holiness we must have when we find ourselves in the world.
We are indeed in the midst of wolves, but we are learning today that we must not be altered nor compromise ourselves in any way.
Prayer:
- Heavenly Father, forgive us, if among your sheep that we are, sometimes some are not pure, sometimes we even mix up methods and ways of doing things to function in this world. Forgive us Father, and purify us with your precious blood.
- Make me as simple as a dove in the mighty name of Jesus Christ Amen
Assignment :
- In your sphere of influence, don’t conform to the dishonest practices of others to get money or to make yourself look good. Remain pure and spotless, knowing that a little leaven makes the dough rise.
