Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV
Hello beloved of The Lord, you’re blessed and highly favoured.
Peace in this Greek text is the word eirene, one of the definitions of this word is the state of tranquility of the soul which has the assurance of its salvation.
Peace has always been a permanent, daily quest for countries and individuals all over the world. Since the dawn of time, we have been in search o a form of tranquility and the assurance of a future. We often seek it in many ways, even in the world. But the Lord teaches us that only He can provide true peace (see John 14:27)
There are, however, a few conditions which are necessary so as to benefit from this peace made available to us by the Lord.
1. God’s peace is reserved for His children.
The work of righteousness will be peace, And the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever.
Isaiah 32:17 NKJV
So if we are not justified/made righteous by Christ, we are not reconciled to God, and we cannot enjoy His peace.
2. We must remain firm in our feelings
You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.
Isaiah 26:3 NKJV
We must remain firm in our feelings, guard our hearts and have faith in God. If we doubt, or tremble we cannot enjoy this peace (see Philippians 4:6)
Prayer:
- LORD God of peace, fill us with Your peace so that we may enjoy Your delights as we should.
- Give us the firmness of heart to stay focused on your word of truth, and remove from us the spirit of fear in the Name of Jesus Christ Amen
Assignment :
- Let’s learn to give peace wherever we go, as the Lord Jesus taught us. When we enter a room, let us declare and release The Lord’s peace.
