Day 28: The Forgiveness of Man

bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.

Colossians‬ ‭3:13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Hello beloved of The Lord, you’re blessed and highly favoured.

This verse clearly explains one of the reasons why we must forgive, because Christ forgave us first out of love. If we claim to be sons of God, we must have love for one another, and so forgive one another.

Forgiveness therefore becomes a must as a child of God. Matthew 18:23-35 tells us of Jesus’ parable of a king who called his servants to pay back what they owed. Having forgiven out of love, and forgiven his servant’s debt, he logically expected his servant to do the same to the one who owed him money.

Matthew, 18:33 – “Were you not also to have mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?”… The rest tells us that his master handed him over to the torturers until he had paid everything. Jesus concludes by saying that God will do the same to us in the Kingdom if we don’t forgive.

So it’s time to question ourselves, and forgive all those who have offended us, so that Satan doesn’t find an opportunity to harm us.

Prayer:

• Heavenly Father, we ask You to forgive us for all the times we haven’t forgiven an offense done to us. We thought it was hurting the person, but it was really hurting ourselves.
• Heavenly Father, give us strength and teach us to forgive our brothers and sisters as you have done all Your life.
• So today, I release all the people in my heart towards whom I felt resentment or hatred, in the Name of Jesus Christ Amen.

Assignment :

• Make a list of all the people you still hold in your heart for an offense, and make a decision not to be like that servant, but to forgive those people.
• Ask God to remove these feelings from your heart before 2024 in Jesus’ Name, and it will be granted to you.
