But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.
II Corinthians 9:6-7 NKJV
Hello beloved of The Lord, you’re blessed and highly favoured.
The Bible tells us not to appear before The Lord in God’s house empty-handed (Deuteronomy 16:16-17 NKJV) . This means we must always have an offering to give to God. Unfortunately, there are Christians who make it a habit to not give anything ever during offerings. The Bible tells us that if we sow sparingly we will also reap sparingly. The law of sowing and reaping is a law of multiplication. When you give zero to God, the multiple of zero will always be zero. So expect zero returns. Even if you have only 100 FCFA to give as offering, give it.
There are also believers who have assumed that they have to give the least amount in their pockets to God. As such they give only coins in Church and they never get past a certain amount. Some people have been giving God 100-500 fcfa as offering for years from childhood to adolescence to adulthood. They never raise the amount and that is a very big problem.
Supposing that you plant a seed and that seed produces 100 fold return, if you desire 10000 fold return next time, you have to plant 100 seeds (10x more seeds). If you want your returns to increase, you must increase the amounts you sow.
Some Christians never get past a certain financial level because they’ve never gotten past a certain amount in their offerings. They reap sparingly because they sow sparingly yet they ask God to make them billionires. In fact, why would God give you even 1 million CFA Francs if He knows that you will never give more than 500 fcfa as offering no matter how rich you are? He will entrust those 1 million CFA Francs to people who will give back into the Kingdom.
Have clear goals, decide that you will give more to God each year. If this year the maximum you gave as offerings weekly was 500 fcfa decide that next year you’ll go up and give 700 fcfa, then 900 fcfa and so on. Why would you not be able to give 10000 FCFA weekly as offerings? When God will see that desire in you He will increase your finances.
Note that the only way to give to God isn’t offerings. You have to multiply ways of giving: give money to support missionaries in your Church, give money to support projects that will advance the spreading of The Gospel, partner with men and women of God who need money to be injected in their ministry, give alms to the poor out of love for God, provide financial support and food for widows, orphans and prisoners out of love for God. All those things count as sowing seeds.
Prayer:
- Thank You Lord for opening my eyes about my finances. I now know that I reaped sparingly because I sowed sparingly. Father forgive m. Lord I commit to give my offerings consistently and increasingly in Jesus Christ’s Name. Amen
Assignment :
- Have a clear goal and write it down how much do you want to give to God next year, then break it down into how much you want to give to God each month and each week. Plan on how much you’ll give as offerings, support to ministry, support towards orphans/widows/prisoners and strategise on how to reach your goals.
