Awakening

Hello blessed child of God, I hope you’ve had an awesome day in The Lord.
Of course, I couldn’t go through the most inspirational Christian songs on earth without choosing at least one song from Chris Tomlin.
That’s why today we’re going to listen to “Awakening” by Chris Tomlin.

We’re going to pick off from the previous message in which we highlighted the fact that we can’t serve God without God, that we need to rely on Him to be transformed.
In today’s song, we learn to rely on God for awakening. Only God can redeem out souls and awaken us.
One of the verses I am trying to make sink into my heart these days is Luke 1:37.
Luke 1:37 ESV

For nothing will be impossible with God.

If nothing is impossible with God, then

• God can transform the most hardened heart into the heart of a true servant
• God can redeem my soul from all of my sins
• God can restore my relationship with Him which I stained due to my own rebellion
• God can give me a new heart which will obey Him
• God can awaken my soul and make me a better Christian

Ezekiel 36:25-‬28 MSG

“ I’ll pour pure water over you and scrub you clean. I’ll give you a new heart, put a new spirit in you. I’ll remove the stone heart from your body and replace it with a heart that’s God-willed, not self-willed. I’ll put My Spirit in you and make it possible for you to do what I tell you and live by My commands… You’ll be My people! I’ll be your God!”

If God can do all these things (and He can) why don’t I ask Him to do this for me?
If He can do this for you, why don’t you ask?

“Don’t bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. This isn’t a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we’re in. If your child asks for bread, do you trick him with sawdust? If he asks for fish, do you scare him with a live snake on his plate? As bad as you are, you wouldn’t think of such a thing. You’re at least decent to your own children. So don’t you think the God who conceived you in love will be even better?

In other words
Matthew 7:7‭-‬8 NIV

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

That’s the essence and beauty of the song “Awakening” by Chris Tomlin.
The heart of a Christian who turns to The Only One who can make a difference in his life, and make him new.

• Yes you want to be a better Christian
• Yes you want to be obedient to God
• Yes you want to be an examplary friend, spouse and parent
• Yes you want a breakthrough in your life
• Yes you want a deep change in all the patterns you’ve created and accepted in your life

Perhaps you’ve tried and tried again but you’ve never arrived.

• You fasted but you’re still having anger issues
• You read your Bible but you’re still unable to treat your spouse with love
• You’ve confessed your sins but your heart still runs after your addictions

In a certain sense, we’ve all been there. Having goals and standards but not being able to meet up. Trying with our own strength to serve God but failing.
Have we forgotten that it is by grace that you were saved, thus it is by grace that you will be sustained?
It was God who made a way for you to be saved, not you. In the same way it is God who will make a way for your heart to be transformed, not you. Your role is to believe and submit.
Why carry that load all alone on our shoulders, while we have a Saviour, who is more than willing and able to receive us, carry our load for us and give us rest in Him?
Why try to do it all alone if we can turn to Him and ask Him to help us to become all that we are in Him?
Matthew 11:28‭-‬30 MSG

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

Exercise

1. Take your whole heart to God and ask Him to awaken your soul, to transform you inside-out in the type of person He wants you to be in Christ.
2. Listen to “Awakening” by Chris Tomlin, and sing along, while praying God sincerely to awaken your soul.

Prayer

Father Lord God Almighty, I confess I have tried to do this all alone, and I have failed so many times. On my own, I can’t be perfect, I can’t follow Your ways, I can’t make the right choices, I just can’t make it without You. Please Lord I invite You today, in my life, to save me, to deliver me, to transform me, to accompany me. I choose to put all my hope and all my faith in Jesus Christ, not only for salvation but also for my everyday life, that my life may be in complete dependence to You, in Jesus Christ’s Name. Amen
