Hi everyone, merry Christmas.
Today’s post is going to be about Christmas.
Let’s turn to Matthew chapter 2. We mostly all know about the three wise men, who made all the way to find baby Jesus in the manger in order to adore Him, the King of Jews. But, I would like us today to pay a little attention to someone, who when he heard about the birth of Jesus, didn’t feel amazed to adore, but threatened.
Matthew 2:3-4, 7, 13 KJV
When Herod the king had heard these things , he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. [4] And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. [7] Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. [13] And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.
Herod, the king at that period, hearing about the birth of the King of Jews, felt threatened for his position as king.
Herod doesn’t see in Jesus an opportunity for salvation, he doesn’t see in Jesus, the love and the mercy of God. All that he sees, is that his position as king is possibly “under attack”. Herod is not only sitting on that physical throne but he is also sitting on the throne of his own life. Reason why he’s worried by the possibility that he would lose his place on his throne. Herod is his own “god”.
Jesus Christ didn’t just come to be the king of Jews, He came to be my king personally, to reign on the throne of my life. “He must increase but I must decrease”
John 3:30 KJV
He must increase, but I must decrease.
How many times have we usually felt “small” in front of God’s will, “threatened” by His plans, “uncomfortable” with what He wants when it’s different from what we want, and how do we react in such situations.
Instead of competing with Him so that “our own will should be done” let’s just surrender to Him, obey and adore.
Let’s stop trying to have “our way”, let’s leave Jesus the entire place on the throne of our lives, not just concerning the aspect of our lives which deal “directly” with church life, but every single aspect of our lives, is to be surrendered to His reign.
He can’t be our King while we are our own king. He can’t be my God if I am busy trying to be my own “god” . Let Him rule.
Let us surrender and adore.
Prayer
Eternal Lord I acknowledge the fact that there are aspects of my life where I am still in conflict with You, either because I want some things to be done my way or in my own time. I repent. I acknowledge I have tried to direct many aspects of my life with respect to my own self and not with respect to Your Will and Your Word. By so doing I competed with Jesus Christ on the throne of my life, I get down from that throne today, I reinvite The Lord Jesus Christ to reign on the throne of my life today, in every single aspect, and I bow down to adore Him. Help me O Lord to remember that You lead and that I follow, that You may increase and I decrease, in Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray. Amen.
Merry Christmas 🎄 🌟
God bless you all.
