Hi everyone I hope you are all fine by God’s grace. As a continuation of our series on friendship, this post aims at helping you to face situations where you and your friends fail to agree.
First of all, we should outline the following Bible instructions.
1. Avoid stupid arguments
2 Timothy 2:23-24 NIV
Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.
2 Timothy 2:14 NIV
Keep reminding God’s people of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen.
I guess some of us hadn’t read these verses yet, or a good number of us read them but forgot about them, or kept them far away from their minds when entering deep arguments about things which really really mattered to us.
We are to avoid such arguments because they produce nothing but quarrels, and by the time we realize it, we’ve transformed into a quarrelsome person who’s always arguing.
2. If in the end it’s useless and unprofitable, drop it
Before entering an argument, make sure that it is really worth it, that there’ll be a true positive yield. However, if you notice that the conversation won’t lead to any progress
Titus 3:9 NIV
But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless.
Some of us will ask:
– “What if my friend is really really wrong about something Biblical, and I sincerely want to help him/her be on the right track?”
– “What should I do concretely to explain my point without appearing as a quarrelsome, troublesome person ? “
God’s Word has hints about this for us, and we’re going to discuss about this tomorrow God willing.
While waiting, let’s reflect on the arguments we’ve had till now, and on whether they were useful, whether they really drew others closer to Christ Jesus, or whether they just created quarreling without bearing any fruits.
Perhaps it’s time for us to change our way to try to enlighten others’ minds.
Prayer
Eternal Lord King of Glory, I want to confess to you that I don’t always know how to react when I don’t agree with others. In trying to convince them, I may have appeared as a quarrelsome person. Please Lord, help me calm down and use better approaches, in Jesus Christ’s Name I pray, Amen.

Thanks for reading.
God bless you all.
