When Waiting Becomes Difficult 

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all fine by God’s grace, and I hope you all had a nice week in The Lord. Today’s post is about something a little bit difficult to handle: waiting. 
Someday I heard someone saying that we spend most of (if not all of) our lives waiting (for something/someone etc.). It’s absolutely not easy to be in a “transition” season in your life, waiting for something, expecting something. Have you ever felt like, you’ve been doing all the efforts you had to do, you’ve been praying and working hard, and there’s still no result? Have you ever felt like, you knew God had something big He’s planned for you, but felt like you’re living “below your calling” because the beautiful things you thought would happen haven’t happened YET? 
I think we’ve all felt kind of this way at least sometime in our lives. I have. Waiting isn’t easy. Mostly when you have big dreams and you aren’t seeing them coming true yet. 
Have you ever read the story of Joseph in the Bible? 
He was destined to reign over his brothers and God had showed this to him in his dreams. 
Genesis 37:5‭-‬8 NIV

Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more. He said to them, “Listen to this dream I had: We were binding sheaves of grain out in the field when suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it.”  His brothers said to him, “Do you intend to reign over us? Will you actually rule us?” And they hated him all the more because of his dream and what he had said.

Not only did his brothers sell him to be a slave, but even when he did everything to remain pure before God and to avoid sexual immortality, he ended up in prison. 
Genesis 39:7‭-‬8‭, ‬13‭-‬15‭, ‬19‭-‬20 NIV

and after a while his master’s wife took notice of Joseph and said, “Come to bed with me!”  But he refused. “With me in charge,” he told her, “my master does not concern himself with anything in the house; everything he owns he has entrusted to my care. When she saw that he had left his cloak in her hand and had run out of the house, she called her household servants. “Look,” she said to them, “this Hebrew has been brought to us to make sport of us! He came in here to sleep with me, but I screamed. When he heard me scream for help, he left his cloak beside me and ran out of the house.”  When his master heard the story his wife told him, saying, “This is how your slave treated me,” he burned with anger. Joseph’s master took him and put him in prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were confined. 

Actually, it took a long time before Joseph finally reigned on Egypt and eventually on his brothers. 
Genesis 45:5‭, ‬7‭-‬8 NIV

And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you. But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance.  “So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God. He made me father to Pharaoh, Lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt.

If you read Joseph’s story, you’ll notice that there’s no verse where he complains or says he’s tired of waiting for his dreams to come true. When we look at this keenly, we realize that Joseph never gave up on God, though the situation was really really difficult. He didn’t know what was going to happen the next day, but he kept faith in God even though everything seemed to try to tear him down. 
When waiting becomes difficult, remember this verse :
Habakuk 2:3 GNT

Put it (the vision) in writing, because it is not yet time for it to come true. But the time is coming quickly and what I show you will come true. It may seem slow in coming, but wait for it; it will certainly take place, and it will not be delayed. 

Just keep this in mind, no matter how long it takes, God’s promise is going to come true. It may take some time, it may seem slow, but just keep on waiting, and praying, and believing, and trusting God, and just like Joseph did, use this waiting time to draw closer to God and to develop your gifts and skills because they’re going to be useful to you. 
How can you be sure that what you learn now will be useful to you in future? It’s easy, just keep in mind that this time you spend in the “wait closet” is a preparation and not a punishment. You are not forgotten you are just hidden, in preparation.
Matthew 6:33 NIV

Prayer 
Lord God Almighty,  please grant me patience while I am waiting. Help me keep trusting You and growing in my gifts and skills as you are preparing me. In Jesus Christ’s Name I pray. Amen.
