Hello everyone, I hope you’re all fine by God’s grace. Today is Good Friday, and this post is aimed at talking about the greatest gift a friend can ever make to someone. The greatest love we can ever experience.
In our relationships, we are usually pressured to prove our love to the other one, by giving up x or y stuff for them. At times they push us to give up our dreams, our ambitions, our careers, our commitments, our standards, out of “love” for them. They put so much pressure on us, and say “if you loved me, you would do it for me”.
Today, on The Cross, Jesus Christ shows us what’s real love:
- He didn’t come to pressure you to do anything for Him, He came and did everything for you.
- He didn’t come as the “dominating friend” who asks you to give up something for him/her, but He came as The Best Friend you will ever have, who gives up everything for you.
- He didn’t come to take from you, but to give to you.
What happens to be so precious in your sight (life), He gave it up for you.
John 15:13-15 KJV
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. [14] Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. [15] Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
If Jesus Christ could go through the sufferings of The Cross, the mockeries, the stripes and the humiliation, it was because of you. He loved you so much that even if you happened to be the only one on earth, He would still give up His life voluntarily for you.
Have you noticed what title Jesus gives to you? Have you noticed which title He gives to the ones He gave His life for?
– His friends
Do you know who else was called God’s friend in The Bible?
–Abraham
James 2:23 KJV
And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
What gave Abraham this title of Friend of God, was His faith in The Lord. He took God at His Word. We too are supposed to take God at His Word.
- Don’t say it’s too beautiful to be for you
- Don’t think salvation is too good to be true
- Don’t think it’s too easy to be possible
Just embrace His grace and believe in His love.
Isn’t it an honour that Jesus Christ considers you as His friend? Isn’t it wonderful, that He said those words before even that you were born, because He knew that more than 2000 years later, you would need a Saviour, you would need redemption for your sins, and you would need a Best Friend? A One Friend who never lets you down, and loves you unconditionally?
How great and awesome.
Today, let’s reflect on Jesus Christ’s Gift to us, His life and His blood poured for the redemption of our sins.
