Hello blessed child of God, I hope you’re fine by God’s grace.
I’m sorry for posting this late, I had a few issues. Thank God it’s all fixed now.
Today we’re going to talk about the importance of reading The Bible.

  • Have you ever faced a really impossible situation?
  • Have you ever had to make a really huge decision in your life but you didn’t know how to come about it ?
  • Have you ever faced an issue at your job for which you needed guidance ?
  • Have you ever faced an issue in your relationship with a friend or with your spouse for which you needed help ?

At times we act as if The Bible happened to be so abstract and out of our nowadays context, while this is absolutely not true.
We need The Bible every day in our lives, for our daily struggles, for everything. The Bible is here to guide us.

1. The Bible Has Got What You Need

2 Timothy 3:14‭-‬17 NIV

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Some people in conversations like to say “Let’s put the Bible aside and let’s reason it out” but how can we reason things out without The Bible?
God made The Bible to contain everything we need to reason things out, to make the right decisions, to change our lives.
At times we remain in bondage to certain circumstances, behaviours and addictions because we do not know God’s Word about our situation.
At times we make dumb decisions because we never took time to open our Bibles to receive guidance about it.Whilst God gave us the Scriptures to direct us while we are here in Earth.

2. The Bible Is Our GPS

Psalm 119:97‭-‬105 NIV

Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. Your commands are always with me and make me wiser than my enemies. I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on Your statutes. I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey Your precepts. I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey Your Word. I have not departed from Your laws, for You Yourself have taught me. How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! I gain understanding from Your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path. Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

See how King David was in love with The Word of God. He understood all the virtues of The Word of God in his life. He knew that The Word of God was able to :

  • Make him wise
  • Give him insight on situations in his life
  • Give him understanding
  • Preserve him from committing evil
  • Makes us hate evil
  • Direct his steps so that he makes the right decisions and walks on the right path

I really recommend that you should read Psalm 119, in this Psalm David lists many benefits of The Word of God. He enjoys all these benefits not just because he has a copy of The Word of God but because he reads it, meditates on it and applies it.

3. The Bible Is Meant For You To Meditate On It Not Just To Decorate Your Home

The Bible Is Meant For You To Meditate On It Not Just To Decorate Your Home

At times we use our Bibles just to decorate our homes or our tables. We use them to show people who visit us that we have a Bible and that we are Christians.

We do this without realizing that we are deceiving our own selves. The Bible is there not just for us to look at it from time to time and keep it on our shelves but to guide us daily.
Joshua 1:7‭-‬8 NIV

“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

God wants us to know His Word, to not only read it and meditate on it in our hearts but also to recite it. Reason why The Bible says “keep this Book of the Law always on your lips, this means you have to speak The Word of God. You have to confess The Word of God with your mouth, even in your conversations you should keep talking about God’s Word. It should be at the center of your life.
Nevertheless, it’s not enough to just read The Word, because if you read God’s Word and you don’t obey it, then there’s a problem.

4. The Bible Is Meant For You To Obey It

Matthew 7:24‭-‬29 NIV

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.

Jesus Christ said that the one who hears His Words and doesn’t put it in practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.
We are given God’s Word not just for decoration, and not just for reciting but to put it in practice.
There are so many situations in which we remain bound not because we don’t know God’s Word about it but because we don’t do what is to be done to apply it.

You are blessed based on The Word of God which you apply by Pastor Steven Furtick

I am trying to let you know through this blog post that it’s really important to read your Bible. Not to judge you if you’re having difficulties but to encourage you.
If you’re facing a specific issue in your marriage or in any of your relationships you can search God’s Word about it and learn God’s Will. The more you’ll seek Him the more you’ll find Him. God’s Holy Spirit will open your heart and He will guide you.
In the same way, if you’re having health issues you can search your Bible to see what God has said about your health, and to believe in God’s Word about you.
No matter which issues you’re facing , God’s Word is there for you. You can read it and find clear solutions to your issues, through the direction of The Holy Spirit.
Don’t neglect opening your Bible everyday, even if it’s not to get a breakthrough, just to know more about God, open The Bible, read it and ask God to help you to apply it daily.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You so much for Your Word which is pure, Holy and which You have made available to me to teach me, direct my steps and accompany me everyday. Father, open my heart and help me so that I may read Your Word everyday and be transformed everyday in the image of Christ. In Jesus Christ’s Name. Amen.

It’s Now Your Turn

How was last week’s challenge for you? Have you experienced breakthrough? If yes please share in the comments section.
Your challenge this week is to identify a specific issue in your life and to look for Bible verses concerning it. Take 15 minutes every day to read these verses, believe them, confess them with faith, let God transform you by the renewing of your mind, and apply these Bible verses.
