Hello beloved child of God. I hope you’re fine by God’s grace.
Have you ever thought of which word would be your favourite word if you had to choose just one word?
My favourite word would be love.
Don’t you see God’s story with humanity as a wonderful love song? -I do.
And I also see my relationship with God as a wonderful love song.
That’s probably why I love the song “Ought to be” by Audrey Assad.
John 3:16 KJV
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Basically what I see in this song is the fact that God loves us so much, and that the natural response of our souls to His love should be love.
1 John 4:19 KJV
We love Him, because He first loved us.
In fact, God has put His love in our hearts so that we could love Him back.
Romans 5:5 NLT
And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love.
This is so beautiful. God loves you so much.
However if you’re even a little bit like me, you may be discouraged at times by the fact that though God loves you so much, you don’t measure up to His love.
At times I really feel ashamed to do so little for God, and to not love Him as much as He deserves. But guess what: If you’ve ever felt like me about this, you’re surely going to be encouraged by the part of the song which says
“Love planted deeply becomes what it ought to be“-Audrey Assad
Do you get the meaning of this sentence? The love of God which has been shed abroad in your heart by The Holy Spirit is going to bear fruits exactly like a seed in good soil, and little by little it will grow, grow and grow, if you keep believing and submitting yourself to God.
Mark 4:8, 20 NLT
Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they sprouted, grew, and produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted!” And the seed that fell on good soil represents those who hear and accept God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!”
As you can see, for God’s love to bear fruits in your life, you have to know that He loves you and to accept it. When you accept His love for you, when you accept that this is real, “God loves me”, you make your heart a fertile soil and the love which He planted will produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!
Ask yourself:
- ” Do I believe that God loves me?”
- “Have I accepted the fact that He loves me?”
If yes, what a good news it is to know that I am not perfect yet in The Lord, but little by little, everything which He has planted in me will grow and bear fruits to the glory of His Name.
Perhaps you aren’t yet the type of Christian you would love to be, or the type of Christian you ought to be; the type which God calls you to be. If you’re aware of that it means you’re well set to seek Him and let Him gradually transform you.
You can become a better version of yourself every minute in Christ. Just keep faith that what God has planted in you is going to grow.
Philippians 1:6 NLT
And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
So what can you do now while waiting?
Love Him, and love Him even more with all your being. Let His love consume you in every single aspect and moment of your life. Take time everyday to tell Him how much you love Him (worship and adoration), and just keep believing that your relationship with God will grow and grow further.
Keep obeying Him, and even if you fall, repent, confess it to Him, receive His forgiveness and continue loving Him.
Deuteronomy 6:5-6 NLT
And you must love The Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today.
Exercise
Your only exercise of the day is to take some time in a quiet room, smile and say “God I love You so much“.
Say it as many times as you wish. He’s listening to you and He’s smiling at you.
Did you try it out? How did you feel? This is a taste of Heaven ; This is what Heaven will look like, telling God you love Him, and basking in His love all the time.
Prayer
Father Lord God , You are love. Thank You so much for sending Your Holy Spirit in my life to fill my heart with Your love. May this love grow more and more in me everyday. Oh God, I love You so much. Melt my heart with love for you such that I may be able to confidently say that I love you with all my heart, all my soul, all my strength and all my mind in Jesus Christ’s Name. Amen
