Hi everyone, I hope you are all fine by God’S grace.
Today we are going to talk about duty.
According to Oxford Advanced Learner’s dictionary, duty is something that you feel you have to do because it is your moral or legal responsibility.
Now let’s take a look at this little anecdote from The Bible.
Luke 20:22-25 KJV
Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no? [23] But He perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me? [24] Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Caesar’s. [25] And He(Jesus Christ) said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar’s, and unto God the things which be God’s.
From such a story we can clearly see that a Christian ought to be a responsible person.
We aren’t trying to flee the laws of our countries, we aren’t supposed to try to be crafty and dishonest with respect to the specific rules and regulations in our countries so long as they aren’t against God’S Word.
Nevertheless, what I want us to pay attention to here is that as children of God there are certain things which it is our duty to render to God.
Nobody will praise God for you.
Nobody will obey God for you.
Nobody will adore God for you/in your place.
Nobody will love your own neighbor for you.
Nobody will love you in your place.
Praising God, obeying Him, adoring Him, loving your own neighbor, loving yourself, these are things that you are accountable for before God, you have to do them, they are your good works, they’re there for you.
Romans 13:8 KJV
Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
Remember that the very first person to whom you owe something is God.
Try not to do it with your own strength and might but let Him lead you by His Holy Spirit and you shall naturally begin to obey Him and render to Him the type of sacrifice He wants.
To conclude, we are accountable to God, and if we really desire to serve Him, He shall help us do so.
Ezekiel 36:26-27 KJV
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. [27] And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them .
