Job 3:25 ESV

For the thing that I fear comes upon me, and what I dread befalls me.

Hello beloved child of God, I hope you’re fine by God’s grace.

Today we’re going to talk about fear.

I know we said we were going to talk about depression, but I can’t talk about depression without talking about anxiety, and talking about an anxiety ultimately leads us to talk about fear.

Chronic anxiety can definitely lead to depression, that’s why it’s important for us to talk about such things.

Some people get depressed not only because of what has already happened to them, but at times too because they are afraid to experience something similar to or worse than what previously happened to them. Depression now becomes a way to be numb and to protect themselves from further trouble. It’s like a bubble they form around themselves thinking it will protect them from their greatest fears and help them avoid what they’re running away from (pain, grief, exams, divorce, relationships etc)

By the way, in most cases, people feel depressed when their worse fears actually come true.

Job 3:25 ESV

For the thing that I fear comes upon me, and what I dread befalls me.

For the purpose of waging war against depression (and anxiety), I would require that you learn to know your fears, and to defeat them, but today, we will not yet learn how to conquer/defeat our fears, but just to know our fears.

Luke 10:19 ESV

Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.

In order to fight your enemy, you need to know your enemy. So, it’s high time for you to know your fears and to decide to defeat them in Jesus Christ’s Name.

Tomorrow God willing, we’ll start learning how to defeat those fears.

Father Lord God Almighty, I confess I am afraid of _____________ . I confess that by being afraid of these things I am not trusting You. Help me Lord to get rid of all my fears and to trust You, in Jesus Christ’s Name. Amen.
