Hi beloved child of God, I hope you’re fine by His grace and totally basking in His love.
Today’s such an important date for me, and I am so excited (as each year) with Valentine’s day. You probably ask yourself why (mostly when you consider the fact that valentine’s day has been used by so many people out there to make immorality permissible).
That’s where the sentence “It becomes what you make of it” applies.
If Valentine’s day is the day we’ve chosen to celebrate love then it’s a day to celebrate God.
Why? – Simply because God is love.
1 John 4:8 NLT

But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

1 John 4:16 NLT

We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in His love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them

This is the reason why valentine’s Day is all about God a.k.a it’s His day.
This should be clear in our minds because the way we perceive Valentine’s day will influence

  • What we do on Valentine’s day
  • Who we spend time with on Valentine’s day
  • What type of movies we watch on Valentine’s day
  • What type of conversations we have on Valentine’s day
  • How we treat the opposite sex on Valentine’s day

Of course every other day is about God, God is worthy of our praise, adoration and obedience every single day 24/7.
Unfortunately, people have misappropriated Valentine’s day to serve their own selfish purposes in the so-called name of “love“. That’s why if you really say and believe that on Valentine’s day you’re celebrating love, then you should do it God’s way, and celebrate God, Love Himself.
Let’s go back to first principles, and not be conformed to this world but transformed by the renewing of our minds.
Here below, is a description of God, of love:
1 Corinthians 13:4‭-‬7 NLT

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

By reading these verses, you’ve surely been able to conclude that love won’t take advantage of someone else’s body, that’s not love, it’s lust.
If you really want to walk in love not only on Valentine’s day but from this day forward, you have to put God at the center, not yourself, not the other one’s body, not lustful movies nor lustful music. You have to put God first and at the center not only of your life but of your relationships too.
Finally, if there’s any recommendation for valentine’s Day it will be this:
Adore God today (and every other day) and love your neighbor as yourself, make God’s love shine through your good deeds.
Luke 10:‬27 NLT

The man answered, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

Prayer

Father Lord God King of Glory, You are love, and You are wonderful. I choose to adore You and to reflect Your love to people around me. Help me Lord to love You today and everyday with all my heart, all my soul, all my strength, and all my mind, and to love my neighbor as myself. Help me celebrate love on valentine’s Day in a way which honours you and which reflects love as described in 1 Corinthians 13, in Jesus Christ’s Name. Amen.
Thank you so much for reading

It’s now your turn
