For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.
Ephesians 2:8‭-‬9 NIV

Hi precious one of God, you are loved and highly favoured.
What does your journey from sin to restoration look like? What does it look like when you’ve sinned and want God’s restoration?

In this song, “I Need You To Love Me” written by the famous Christian Gospel music band; Barlow girl.
When we’ve sinned we have a choice to make between two options.

  1. Running to God for forgiveness and restoration

1 John 1:9 NIV

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

2. Dwelling on it in shame, running away and hiding from God
Genesis 3:10 NIV

He answered, “I heard You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”

The second option is probably the most destructive, because we’ll be pushing God away, while all He wants to do is to forgive us and to restore us.
He loves us, and we were created to need His love.
The first option is the best option, going to God with your sin, and your guilt, and your shame and admitting what He already knew; admitting that you don’t deserve God’s grace, and He’s ok with you not deserving it, He grants it to you anyway.
At times, you feel pain and hurt not because of your sins but because:
you think you can do what Jesus never tried to do on The Cross, you think you can save yourself” -Pastor Steven Furtick
You can’t save yourself with your own strength. In order to overcome sin you need 100% God’s grace, and this grace can’t work when you think you can do it yourself and when you put yourself at the center. You have to shift, open your heart to God, put Him at the center of your change process, and let His love and His grace overflow in your life.
Ephesians 2:8‭-‬9 NIV

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

The more you’ll learn to know Him, the more His love for you will help you gratefully forget and overcome what you’ve been, and this same love and grace which saved you from X sin in the past will save you from Y sin in the present, and give you hope, and make you see yourself as Jesus sees you.

  • Thank Him for the fact that you can not and will never deserve His grace

Prayer

Father Lord God Almighty, thank You so much for Your everlasting love and imperishable grace towards me. I thank You because I can’t deserve Your grace and I don’t have to try to deserve it, just to enjoy it, and let Your love and grace change me one step at a time, in Jesus’s Name. Amen
