Lamentations 3:37‭-‬38 GNTThe will of the Lord alone is always carried out. Good and evil alike take place at his command.
Hello blessed loved one of God, I hope you’ve had an awesome day in The Lord.
Mine was wonderful by His grace. When I say wonderful, it doesn’t mean that I’ve not had reasons to be annoyed today.
More often than not through out the day, we have various things which happen to us or around us which would be enough for us to get angry, sad, broken, hurt, annoyed etc.
But did it ever cross your mind that everything which happens through out your day, even the fact that you have to deal with difficult people, happens to be be part of God’s plan?
Everything which God allows in your life: joy or sadness, pain or suffering, are all part of His plan.
Everything God allows in your life is for His glory and for your good.
Perfect title for a song right? That’s what brings us to today’s song: “For Your Glory and My Good” by All Sons and Daughters.

Romans 8:28 CSB

We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to His purpose.

A few years ago, everytime I would go through a difficult moment and complain about it, my mom would remind me that all things work together for the good of those who love God.
She still does that by the way, but when I was a little younger I was kind of “frustrated” when someone would remind me of this verse. In my mind I was like:

  • “How can this thing ever work for my good?”
  • “Can anything good come from this situation?”
  • “How can this painful issue ever contribute to my well-being?”

Nevertheless, with time and maturity I really came to appreciate this truth. It all works together for God’s glory and for my good. I’ll give you a few examples:

  • God allowed some people in my life who were emotionally abusive, now I can value the. blessing of true relationships
  • God allowed people in my life who were whimsical, this taught me patience.
  • God allowed me to face deep moments of sadness, this made me develop special empathy for depressive people, and made me more open to listen to them.
  • God used my mistakes to break my self-sufficiency and perfectionism, and to teach me to rely on Him.
  • God allowed dry seasons in my life, so that I would understand the importance of worshiping Him.

I could continue for a whole day. The big idea behind this is that nothing you face in life is without a reason or without a purpose.
Lamentations 3:37‭-‬38 GNT

The will of the Lord alone is always carried out. Good and evil alike take place at his command.

If you see things this way, while you’ll be in difficult seasons you’ll give a purpose to your pain by realising that God is trying to teach you something through this.
Next time you have to deal with a difficult situation/person, ask yourself : “What is God trying to teach me through this?”

Exercise

  • Try to draw a table today. In the left hand column write down a few difficulties you have faced and are facing (include the names of difficult people if need be). In the right hand column write down one thing which God taught you or is trying to teach you through this difficulty.
  • Thank Him for this

Prayer

Father Lord God Almighty, help me through Your Holy Spirit to realize that everything I go through is for Your glory and for my good. Help me give purpose to my suffering and my difficult seasons. Help me not endure life but enjoy it as I learn everything you want to teach me through every season, in Jesus’ Name. Amen

Additional Resources

Permit me please to suggest that you watch these wonderful sermons “It Had to Happen” and “I’m glad it happened” by Pastor Steven Furtick.
They’ll probably help you reconcile with giving purpose to what you’re going through and what you went through.
