Hi everyone, I hope you are all fine by God’S grace.
Today’s post is about backsliding.
Backsliding refers to a situation where somebody fails to do something that they agreed to do and returns to their former bad behavior(Oxford Advanced Learner’s dictionary)
Let’s look at what King David said to God when he fell and signed against Him.

Psalm 51:1-4, 7, 9-12, 16-17 KJV
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. [2] Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. [3] For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. [4] Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. [7] Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. [9] Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. [10] Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. [11] Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. [12] Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. [16] For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it : thou delightest not in burnt offering. [17] The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

This is the attitude to have whenever we sin, not to hide ourself away from God, but to “accuse ourselves before God”, just telling Him all we’ve done and surrendering to Him. This is confession.
King David here asked God to purge him and cleanse him, only God can cleanse us from our sins, only God can forgive us and purify us.
King David here knows that it isn’t an offering that God desires, because we can’t buy God’S forgiveness, no, never. God wants us to truly repent, to be broken-hearted because of our sins.
Once God has forgiven us, He doesn’t recall to mind our sins, He wipes them all with Jesus Christ’S blood it’s past and over. We shouldn’t live in guilt, once He has forgiven us He has forgiven us indeed.
Now maybe you’ll ask me “how do I know that God has forgiven me?”

1 John 1:9 KJV
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Remember our post about faith? Faith is taking God at His Word. GOD cannot lie, if He says that if you confess your sins to Him, He forgives you and cleanses you from all unrighteousness then He does it. Trust Him.
Be still, in Christ Jesus you are forgiven.

Hello Chuck thank you so much for your honest feedback. I’m so grateful to God that you found this post. I want you to remember that God loves you so much. God will help you through. Christ died on that Cross to set you free from sin, including lust.
Permit me to invite you to meditate on these words from The Bible in Romans chapter 6 verses 5-11
Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God. So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.
Please read these words, repeat them many times as you read it, and ask The Holy Spirit to reveal to you what it implies for you.
He has already set you free from lust, all you need to do is to receive it by faith thanks to The Holy Spirit.
    I’m praying for you.
    God bless you
