Hello blessed child of God, I hope you’re fine by God’s grace.
I believe the most popular prayer amongst Christians is probably The Lord’s prayer, also called “Our Father”.
I really love this prayer, but the fact that I’ve known it for so many years pushes me today to ask myself if with time I’ve just been reciting it without understanding it and without really living it.
This easily happens when we say the same prayer many times, familiarity brings contempt.
Do we keep saying this with the same passion? Do we even remember what the words in the prayer really mean? Do we really apply that in our lives?
The Lord’s prayer (Our Father) is infact a prayer of submission to God, and adoration.
That’s probably why I love the song “As It Is In Heaven” by Phil Wickham.
(My apologies, no lyrics for today)
Matthew 6:9-13 NLT
Pray like this: Our Father in Heaven, may Your Name be kept Holy. May Your Kingdom come soon. May Your will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven. Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.
People are usually quick to complain about others and about how bad the world is. They always have a reason why their life or the whole world is a mess, for example
- It’s my spouse’s fault
- It’s the government which is responsible for this
- It’s the system’s fault
- It’s because of my parents that I’m this way now
- It’s because no one ever chose me
- It’s because they broke up with me
- It’s because of sects and cults
There are probably lots of other examples.
However, if we’re a little bit realistic, well realize that if we want change the world, it has to start with ourselves.
You can’t ask God to do His Will on earth, but refuse that He does it in your individual life.
You can’t say you want God’s Name to be kept Holy on earth in general, but refuse to strive to live in His holiness.
If God has to make the world “better” it’s going to start with you, with you making your world better by submitting to Him.
Matthew 3:2 NLT
“Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near. ”
The Kingdom of Heaven isn’t only something far away in a distant future when you’ll reach Heaven. It is near, it is at hand.
The Kingdom of Heaven is a global term which encompasses all what you have in Christ Jesus, all what you are called to live and enjoy in Him by virtue of His sacrifice on The Cross.
It starts right here, right now where you are, and the starting point for you to enjoy God’s Will being done in your life as it is in Heaven, is by submitting your entire life to Him.
The most beautiful form of adoration is obedience to God. “As it is in Heaven” is a song of adoration, a song of submission, from a Christian asking God to help him to serve Him.
Romans 12:1 NLT
And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him.
Indeed, the author of this song has understood it all. Experiencing God’s joy comes with obeying Him and living for Him, but you can’t do it on your own. You need God’s Holy Spirit to help you every single day to obey Him and to completely submit your life to Him.
You can’t serve God without God. You need to abide in Him if you want to serve Him consistently.
John 15:5-7 NLT
“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in Me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in Me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. But if you remain in Me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!
That’s why it should be your prayer everyday, that God may help you to serve Him sincerely.
If you’ve chosen a relationship with Christ it was because you wanted it to be real. What would be the point of all this if it wasn’t to give your whole self to God?
You definitely want to know what it is to live a life of total surrender to God. Surrendering to Him your

Living your relationship with God to the fullest, requires of you to submit all to Him. God wants the whole package, because He already gave you the whole package.
The Lord’s prayer is one which gives all the glory to God, and which acknowledges our inability to save ourselves on our own, but our daily need to have God in our lives;
- To instruct us
- To protect us
- To forgive us
- To cleanse us
- To preserve us from temptation
- To help us live a life which will gives Glory to Him
Try it out today. Stop trying to do this thing on your own and by your own strength. Ask God’s Holy Spirit to help you obey Him in Jesus Christ’s Name.

Prayer
Our Father in Heaven, may Your name be kept Holy. May Your Kingdom come soon. May Your will be done on earth, starting with my own life everyday, as it is in Heaven. Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one, for Yours is The Kingdom, The Power and The Glory, now and forever, in Jesus Christ’s Name. Amen.
