Hello everyone, I hope you’re all fine by God’s grace. Today’s post is directed to anyone who feels stuck where they are now.
I find it kind of complicated when I really long for something but that I can’t have it yet. It keeps me up at night, it makes me anxious, it makes me tired. I don’t know how it is for you, but when I want to be somewhere but that I am somewhere else, I just feel stuck and full of regrets and probably even envious (may God forgive me) of those who are where I would like to be NOW.
When I look at Jeremiah 29, I can only suppose that the people of God who were exiled from Jerusalem to Babylon felt this way too. Their brothers, sisters, friends etc were left in Jerusalem, while they had been exiled. They wouldn’t be in their home town any longer but others would. They were stuck in another country, having another culture, probably having to eat different meals compared to what they were used to. They were stuck in a reality which wasn’t the reality they were used to and which wasn’t the reality they expected nor the one they wanted to live in.
Sounds familiar? Have you ever felt this way too?
Nevertheless, God in His love and mercy made Jeremiah His prophet write a letter and send it to the exiled, in order to encourage them while they were stuck in Babylon.
Jeremiah 29:1‭, ‬4‭-‬6 NIV

This is the text of the letter that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the surviving elders among the exiles and to the priests, the prophets and all the other people Nebuchadnezzar had carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon. This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says to all those I carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon:
“Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce. Marry and have sons and daughters; find wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage, so that they too may have sons and daughters. Increase in number there; do not decrease.

As you can see, God asks them to build, settle, plant, eat, marry, increase, multiply, bear fruits where they are stuck not where they would like to be, not when they’ll be where they would like to be, but where they are NOW.
So the question now whatever you’re stuck in isn’t “why am I stuck here?” but “Now that I am stuck here what am I going to do? How am I going to obey God and make this period during which I am stuck fruitful to the glory of His Name and useful to me?”
I guess today what you’re stuck in isn’t called Babylon. Maybe you’re stuck in a cycle of self-condemnation, maybe you’re stuck in an unforgiving marriage, maybe Babylon for you is your new job, your new neighborhood, your new church, your status as single etc.
It’s time that you quit asking “Why am I stuck here?”, and that you start doing what you’ve been called to do by God wherever you are, ie. Live life in abundance in Christ Jesus and give glory to God.

  •  If you are stuck in yourself, then start loving yourself and edifying yourself with God’s Word.
  • If you’re stuck in an unforgiving marriage, then take the first step to forgive as Christ forgave you.
  • If you’re stuck in this new position at your job, then work as you should, give in your best and enjoy the fruits of your work.
  • If you’re stuck in your status as single, then use this time to serve God with all your heart and in preparing a pattern for you to keep serving Him even when you’re married, having to take care of your spouse and your kids.
  • If you’re stuck in the fiançailles state and aren’t yet getting married, instead of murmuring, complaining, crying for feeling stuck, serve God right where you are in this relationship.

Jeremiah 29:7 NIV

Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”

Also, be praying for God to bring peace and prosperity right where you are stuck now, because if there’s peace where you’re stuck then you’ll be at peace , if there’s prosperity where you’re stuck, you too are going to prosper.
So, don’t consider where you’re stuck separately from what God can do for you. Where you are, He is. He never leaves you nor forsakes you, thus, while you’re stuck here you’d better enjoy His presence and His blessings.
“ In fact it doesn’t matter where you are stuck, what really matters is Who you’re stuck with, and you’re stuck with God.”

And, if you’re stuck with God, then you’re bound to prosper wherever you are, for He is with you in the middle.
Also, one of these exiled took seriously the understanding of the fact that God was with him wherever he was, even in Babylon and that God wanted himprosper wherever he was, and he did awesome things out of love for God. His name was Daniel, and you can read more about him in the book of Daniel, just to be encouraged.
Finally, I want to challenge you today to make a list of everything you can do to be productive in The Lord exactly where you’re stuck, and to thank Him for His presence and His guidance as you start working on these things.
    Prayer
Father Lord God Almighty, I thank You so much for making me realize today that it doesn’t matter where I am stuck because where I am, You are with me. Bless the place I am stuck in, and help me take effective measures to be productive where you’ve planted me, in Jesus Christs Name. Amen.
Thanks for reading, you are awesome, loved and blessed.
