Never Too Busy

Hello precious one of God, how are you? I hope your week has been awesome in The Lord.
Christmas is really getting closer and closer.
I can’t believe we’re already at part 7 of our Christmas series 2017 aimed at learning a little more about Jesus. This is huge. Praise God!
Last week we discussed on our motivations for celebrating Christmas, in our post entitled “On What Basis” which you can read here if you haven’t yet had the opportunity to read it.
This time around we’re going to talk about something you probably all noticed about Jesus. He seemed to make time for everyone.
Have you ever seen a Bible verse where Jesus was too busy to heal someone ? Too occupied to carry and bless a child? Too busy to care for anyone? I haven’t and I don’t think you’ll see any, because Jesus was ultra available for everyone who needed Him (He still is by the way).
In fact, more often than not, it were the people around Jesus who would stop others from coming to Him, but Jesus would often rebuke them and always make Himself available for whoever needed His Help.
Today, we’ll look at Mark 10:46-52 and try to pick useful lessons which should bless us for the rest of our lives.

1. Don’t be afraid to disturb Jesus with your problems

Mark 10:46‭-‬49 NIV

Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.”

As you can see in this story, Jesus is walking, following His schedule of the day when someone pops up and asks for help.
The crowd rebuked Bartimaeus who was asking for Jesus’ help.
In their mind they probably thought: “The Master is busy, He’s going somewhere, He has a program, He’s got stuff to do, don’t slow Him down don’t disturb Him”
But, how does Jesus react? The Bible says that Jesus stopped and called for him.
You see, Jesus was never too busy, never too occupied, never too strict on His schedule that He couldn’t find time to heal a person in need. And, it’s the same thing now.
At times we think we don’t want to bother Jesus in Heaven with our “little” problems, we’re like: “There’re probably more than millions of people praying to Him right now, who have way more important problems than those I have, why would I bother Him? He’s surely busy commanding the angels, or giving instructions for the next day, I should probably not disturb Him with this”
If you think so, then you’re wrong. All of us who think so, we’re wrong.
Jesus would love you to “disturb Him”, He would love to stop just for you, in order to solve your problem(s), none of them is insignificant to Him, so long as it concerns you, He’s ready to help you.
What happened once Jesus stopped and asked to call for the man?

2. Don’t listen to the voice of discouragement

Mark 10:49‭-‬52 NIV

Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus. “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

Ok, before we get into what Jesus did for Bartimaeus, I want you to look at the crowd.
You see, the same crowd which virtually asked him to shut up and not bother Jesus with his issues, is the crowd which now tells him to cheer up and go to Jesus.
This is exactly why you should NEVER FOLLOW THE CROWD.
When you’ll tell some people that you want to turn to God for help, they’ll discourage you a million times and give you every possible reason why your problem is insignificant, or not really a problem, or impossible to be solved by God, etc.
Don’t listen to those who tell you that your case is desperate or worst still, that God has more important stuff to do that taking care of your issues. Don’t listen to the devil who’s trying to discourage you.
Do like Bartimaeus, insist and present your problem to Jesus.
So, when Bartimaeus was finally before Jesus, Jesus took time to ask what he wanted and He granted exactly that to him.
Thus, Jesus is never too busy to take care of us. He’ll always create time to listen to our problems and to provide solutions for us.

3. Apply it

During the Christmas season, we all have so much to do that that we often fail to notice the people near us who just like Bartimaeus need a few minutes of our times so that we can share God’s love with them, express to them how greatly Jesus cares for them.
We are Jesus’s arms and legs on this earth. He uses us to express His love and His presence to people around us.
In this season, where we’re trying to learn more about Jesus in order to walk in His footsteps, it’s probably the best moment to develop a new habit, learning to create time for others in The Lord.
For sure, we can’t please everyone, and we can’t always find time for everyone, but as we’re choosing our new year resolutions, we could add to it, making some extra efforts so that we’ll never be too busy to show God’s love to someone.
Perhaps these days you’ve been

• Too busy to say “I love you” to your spouse
• Too busy to carry your baby last time he/she cried
• Too busy to volunteer in church
• Too busy to reply to the last mail or text message your mother sent to you
• Too busy to call your friend who’s not been coming to school for weeks just to check if everything is alright
• Too busy to take part in a visit your group organised at an orphanage to offer gifts to kids
• Too busy to sit down with your family to read The Bible
• Too busy to take care of your own self etc.

I don’t know in which category you find yourself, but I think it’s time, not only to learn to bring your needs to God without doubting that He’ll always have time for you, but also to create time for people around you in His Name.

Prayer

Father Lord God King of Glory, Powerful and Everliving God, I am amazed at seeing how available You are for me. I confess at times I failed to bring up some things to You in prayer because I didn’t want to bother You. Thank You for giving me the permission today to bother You with whatever issue I face. Also, please show me where I failed to find time for people around me to share Your love with them, may Your Holy Spirit help me to be more organized and more willing to create time for others in Your Name, in Jesus Christ’s Name. Amen.
